And you have to use it fast or it spoils - that's the bad thing about crab.

I've been tempted to buy the canned crab but always wondered if the price warrants the convenience.

Honestly, I would rather skip the crab than eat it from the can. I've not found anything (out here, at least) that has much flavor. thankfully, since we are close to SF, we can get crab at a reasonable price and we are just heading into the season.

Sounds delicious but if I may, I'd like to suggest skipping the bouillon cubes and water. Replace them with 1 1/2 cups chicken broth/stock instead. While bouillon cups add flavor, they have no nutritional value and are high in sodium. There are some concentrated broths available also but check the sodium levels on those before you purchase.

I should have made a note that I don't use bouillon cubes because of the salt. I'll go back and fix that. Good catch.

So this is the same as my lobster and corn chowder recipe only I use chicken broth... delicious.

Yes, yes, it was! It's cheaper and easier for us to get crab out here. Lobster is very dear.
