This is a good reason why it's so hard to pick the right paint color. It's all about the surroundings to get what you want.

In theatre we have to buy a certain kind of paint to keep the colors true once we hit them with lights. It's really funny when you get a novice who paints something beautifully in the shot and then have it turn out looking like crap once the lights come up.

We had banks of stage lights on the paint frame in my old scene shop so we could adjust the colors as we went.
