New Years Resolutions Gone Wild

Jan 24, 2009 08:51

This year I made a quiet resolution to myself that I shared with a few people in conversation. Basically, I wanted to fly. There are people that I know in real life (not just TV shows like "Leave it to Beaver") that have their households run like finely-tuned machines. When I say that it sounds like I'm looking for perfection but I'm not. I ( Read more... )

Yeah, I think you're right about those people who do the dishes together and have a routine like that. That it's a habit. I guess you don't even think about it when it's a habit.

So that's good that you are making these habits. Pretty soon you won't even need to think about it.

Good luck!

Thats awesome! I know you can do it! My house for the most part is pretty visitor friendly and its not cause I stay home all day and have the time either..I really don't do my major cleaning stuff (toilets, bath, floors, dusting) til the weekends anyway. Once you get your house clean all it takes is 5 minutes a night before you go to bed to pick up the mess thats been made downstairs. When I make dinner Victor always washes the dishes right after. If I'm in the bathroom and lets say the towels are all funky from Victor and they aren't hanging right.. I"m in there anyways why not take the extra 30 secs and fix them. Before I would just let them sit there and look funky cause who cares its just towels. But I've noticed if I'm there already just do it...it only takes a second. I make my bed right when I get out of it so when I go to bed that night its nice and neat. When I do my laundry right when it comes out of the dryer I hang or fold my clothes and put them away. Its so much easier to do it a little bit at a time then wait for all ( ... )

You're totally right about all the house stuff and doing it right then. Flylady has a rule about if it's something that can be done in under x min. then do it right then. It's a mindset. And way true about the laundry. It's not done until it's put away.

It's also interesting how YOU set the example and Victor is picking up the habits as well. It's starts with us.

I'm enjoying the wii fit. I do it almost every day. I'd like to get my treadmill fixed though. I think I could really take things up a notch that way.

That's really good news that you haven't had to take your heart meds! Wooohooo! Good job. Plus all the exercise is giving you endorphins.

Anytime you want to hike I'm in. I was doing it a lot two years ago.

Thanks for your support! I'm all yours as well!

I can hardly remember to do the stuff I need to do, and when I do, it's 50/50 whether or not I have the motivation for it.

All I can offer is this: diet soda is gross. Water, iced tea, and coffee, are delicious.

Real soda, after avoiding all soda for a while, is the most delicious thing you have ever tasted. Especially if you hold out for soda w/ real sugar and not the high fructose corn syrup stuff.

Really.

If you're a Coke fan, try the Mexico import Coke (you have to check the label re sugar, though, they've started making some of it with corn syrup).

That's funny. When I started drinking the real stuff again after the wedding I was very excited. Turns out it's too sweet for me now. I'm happy to drink iced tea. It's free at work too!

I've tried the Mexican Coke. It is good. Certain kinds of Dr. Pepper still use sugar too but they are harder to find.

Diet stuff always tasted too sweet to me! It's like the sweetener is trying too hard or something.

Btw-The only cane sugar Dr.P I've found is at Roscoe's deli on Commonwealth.

I just don't like the after taste of diet.

The last time I had cane sugar Dr. Pepper was when I was in Texas at the Dr. Pepper factory tour. I'm a total pepper. Thanks for the tip on where to find it!

I'm eating more fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains. I want to be healthier. I'll let you know if it works.

It sounds like you have a great game plan.

My house is semi-company ready, but there are times I need to duck and hide if somebody comes to the door.

I am going to borrow your idea of picking out my clothes the night before. It is going to be tough for me. I need clothes! I hate clothes shopping (especially for winter), so I wait until I'm down to nothing before I buy something new. My son commented that i was wearing a dress I wore when he was eight years old. I laughed, but then I counted back the years, and by damned he was RIGHT! He is 24!

Most of the time, I get up, get ready for to go, and then I stare into the closet. I look like a deer in the headlights. Pathetic. Send help ;)
