Honeymoon Day 3 Cont. - Tintagel

Dec 04, 2008 22:12

So when we last left our honeymooners, they had just finished viewing St. Michael's Mount and it was about 12:30 in the afternoon. In the past 24 hours they had landed at Heathrow, driven to Warwick, Stratford upon Avon and then the whole length of Cornwall to Redruth. After a couple hours of sleep they toured St. Michael's Mount and here we are.

Hungry again.

We drove to Penzance to see it really quickly and grab some lunch before driving to Tintagel. I was really loving British food but Kevin doesn't like all the pastry. He ate a sausage roll anyway and I had a cheese and onion pasty. We also got our cell phones. I liked Penzance.

It was a beautiful drive to Tintagel. Don't you love how they have to carve into the greenery so it doesn't completely overtake the road?

Just like I've heard about or seen in old movies, there were extremely narrow roads. Kevin was completely freaked out but I was all, "SQUEE!". It was exciting.

Those pictures are fairly representative of Tintagel. The place was striking. If you stood still for a minute you could imagine sounds of horses and metal clashing above the crashing waves. Absolutely old and stunning place. I'm so glad that we were able to do this Cornwall portion of the trip even if we went without sleep and had to drive forever. It was definitely one of the highlights.

After Tintagel we had to drop off the car at the Bristol Airport and then catch a train to London. On the way we stopped at a gas station for a snack.

These vegetarian bacon chips were pretty decent. They had the texture of a funyun. Sam would have loved them. The UK lunchable though...oh man that was good. The cheese was a good quality cheddar and the relish on top of it was amazing.

Here's a picture of where we traveled on day 3. Imagine a train route on top of the driving from Bristol to London. Again we didn't reach the hotel until after midnight, but at least the driving and the cramming in of destinations was over now. It all got more and more relaxed as the trip went on and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
