Yeah. I just now realized I was having withdrawal pains. I'm watching baseball of all things!

My SO believes that the league may shut down entirely. Did you hear what Chelios said about contraction? I do think they overextended their marketability with the last round of expansion. The SO thinks they overextended their talent base.

No matter what, I miss my hockey! World Cup was good this year, though.

I don't think the league will shut down entirely, but contraction may have to occur. I'm more inclined to go with the overexended talent base rather than the marketability because teams that are entirely comprised of minor-league caliber players are not exciting to watch and therefore much more difficult to market. The Washington Capitals, for example. Once Jagr and Co. were traded, they were left with no real stars and an abundance of mediocre players that have no business being in the league. DF likes to call the Caps "the best AHL team in the NHL." He's also heard from friends (players) that the two sides are so far apart, it'll be a miracle if we see hockey this season.

Doesn't mean I can't wish. World Cup was good this year, but I didn't see as much as I would have liked. Just never around the TV at the right time.
