To be fair, Dean had a plan to get Benny back out of Purgatory by hitching a ride with Sam, he just chose not to deal with the vampire-hating world anymore. It's perfectly understandable, and probably the only reason Benny was willing to say yes to Dean's request. He already knew he wasn't coming back.

I do have to commend that scene when Sam has to tell him Benny stayed behind. It's interesting to see how affected Sam was at his sacrifice, mostly because of how upset Dean was. That was a lovely little scene, well acted.

I'm anticipating the upcoming angst because of Naomi putting doubts into Dean's head about Cas. As painful as it is, I can't wait.

I agree. Dean knows how much he's asking of Benny, but he had a plan in place to get him back. He never anticipated this as a one-way journey because he knew Benny could take care of himself and Sam could get him back out. Benny, however, went into this knowing he wasn't going to leave, and that's why I think he agreed. Purgatory was pure, he had a mission, but topside he doesn't belong. He'd rather take his chances with the monsters below.

Yeah, I know he had a way out...but you don't ask your friend to die to rescue your brother. If friend volunteers, great. But asking them to die? NO. I just have a problem with Dean even thinking that was okay. Not that it surprises me in terms of characterization, but it bothers me nonetheless.

Ugh, Naomi. So good and you could see the doubt on Dean's face. But that upsets me again because how many times must Dean question Cas' motives? I am so sick of the show pitting them against each other.

Yeah, sorry. I have a lot of feels. And I want to punch Dean, basically.

UGH, RIGHT!? The thing that gets me about this particular sacrifice is that DEAN ASKED FOR IT. THAT IS NOT OKAY, DEAN. YOU DO NOT GET TO ASK OTHER PEOPLE TO DIE SO YOU CAN SAVE YOUR BROTHER. Fuck. That's just . . . really awful. And the show pays almost zero attention to it other than Dean's twenty seconds of crocodile tears.

Also, this whole ep was one gee-whiz coincidence after another. Like, Dean and Benny spent HOW long looking for Cas in Purgatory, and then Benny just *poof* finds Sam lickety split? And Sam just happened to find what he was looking for behind cage number four? You test my suspension of disbelief in the strangest ways, show.

Yes, exactly. I get why he did it (Benny being the one person he could trust and who knew the exit)...but these are just NOT things you ask of people!

Ugh and yes with the plot holes and inconsistencies. I really had intended to do a full rant, but I am too tired to go back and rewatch just to point them out. The only thing about finding Purgatory quicker is that most of that year was then Dean looking for Cas and then the 3 of them fighting off Leviathan. But, still.

Hell, though, was ridiculous. That aspect ALONE should have taken up a whole ep. I wish instead of a reaper, they had used Charon or something. Making an actual deal (for say, another soul) would have made Sam getting in MUCH more believable because otherwise why did it take multiple angels 40 years to get Dean? And why was there no dramatic time difference between Hell and Purgatory and Earth. ARGH. I can't.

I missed Bobby so much. I'm glad he's in a better place now.

Yeah, although I don't like the way they did it. He was too much of a plot point and shouldn't have been there (Hell) in the first place. By making this storyline, they retconned everything prior regarding the reapers. I mean, Lilith needed to trap reapers to force them to do her bidding before, but now Crowley can threaten and just kill them randomly? Urgh.
