God, this is GOLD. I can't wait to read the fic. And that art, hilarious! That first one is particularly amusing. AND SO TRUE.

Also, that quote is perfection. Those vids brought me back to my Pinto days (ok, not passed, there just haven't been any new interviews - HEY JJ, GET ON THAT NEXT TREK FILM, PLZ), but actually stating it's a tragedy they aren't together? I'm suddenly a big McAvoy fan.lol

THANK YOU!!

I think McAvoy is trying to seduce the entire world. It might be working.

"That's just because you found me attractive, James."

Tumblr is full of joy, too. This one and this one are constantly being updated.

Isn't X-Men First Class just brilliant? I didn't quite think it was up to the artistic brilliance of Dark Knight, but it was a thoroughly excellent movie.

I need to see it again!

I didn't love the fact that they paralyzed Charles so early in the reboot of the franchise :(

Reading the interview linked above and thus knowing they might make more of these prequels, I'm a little sad they did as well. That being said, it was meant to be their origins story so I guess they figured if it didn't go over well or if there some reason they didn't get to make more (think MGM and the Bond franchise), they had to complete the back story.

As for artistic brilliance, no. It was more action movie in general. But I thought the writing was fairly superb. I mainly wish we could have seen a few more moment of Charles and Erik alone (they jumped from Charles saving him to calling him friend without much in between), but other than that, yeah, I was super impressed.

Well, since the film is actually supposed to be a reboot of the entire franchise, I was really surprised (and confused) by all of the little "other" X-Men movie nods and tie-ins. How is this supposed to be a reboot? I suppose because they're making more of the Wolverine movies, Hugh Jackman continues to be Wolverine.

Also, I wasn't entirely convinced by the depth of the Erik/Charles relationship. I would have liked to see more philosophical talk and discussion, the intellectual relationship that is really strong between them. I don't see that kind of friendship between the Erik/Charles that was in the movie.

Yeah, I see now that it was a reboot. I hadn't heard it mentioned thusly, but then again, I wasn't ever a X-Men fan so I didn't follow the production/etc of XMFC the way I did with the Star Trek Reboot. I guess it makes sense to keep some of the main things, though, the same way, again, Trek did. All the main characters were there, just younger and changed by events. And hey, I guess Hugh Jackman was the Leonard Nimoy of the X-Men Reboot.lol

I, too, wish there had been more discussion. They managed to pack a punch with what they did show (the satellite dish scene, "I want you by my side", the one chess match, etc), but I guess, in action movies it's always less characterization and philosophical discussions as action. One thing I love so much about Watchmen. If they'd made XMFC three hours long like Watchmen we could have had more bonding. :) Oh, well. That's why there's fic, right? And hopefully, the friendship will still be there, even if they're not side by side if (when I prefer) they make a sequel.

THE ANGST WAS BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING AND I LOVED IT.

I seriously did totally love this movie. I was waiting for it and waiting for it and then it was awesome! And the entire movie I'm like, "Okay, someone needs to find me some slashfic for these two."

His face when Charles was shot was just terrible. I love that he immediately dropped the bombs and just cradled him. The angst!

Also, the humor. And them on the bed?!?! Yeah. Wow.

Same here. I was dying laughing and no one I was with would get it! I felt like Shaw compressing the grenade- must keep in outburst of, "THIS IS SO SLASHY!" Gah. I was counting the MINUTES until I could get home and find the fic/meta of their extreme gay love.
