My confusion came from this line from a previous chapter "His father had found the acceptance letter from Stanford"

So I figure he went to Stanford

Ahh, sorry. No that's just meant to show a connection. That was letter Dad found, but Drew wanted to go to the midwest school. That's mentioned I think a paragraph or two later in that same chapter. :-)
