Fanmix: the inevitability of a cold war (Professor X/Magneto)

Title: the inevitability of a cold war
Mixer: MF Luder
Fandom: X-Men: First Class
Pairing: Charles Xavier/Erik Lehnsherr
Size: 80 MB, 13 songs
Mixer's Note: This is the second of the mixes, companion to The War At Home. Unlike the first which was about the evolution of Charles and Erik as two people, this is the story of how Erik and Charles became Magneto and Professor X. But as we saw in XMFC, they don't evolve into these roles separately. Their mutant personas are in part response to their past, but also in response to each other and their desperate attempts to make the other understand. Thus, this is about that evolution; Charles and Erik together, becoming Professor X and Magneto. It's about their war, with themselves, each other, and what humanity has helped make them to be.

It’s A War in There : Dar Williams

If you want to make peace, then you gotta find the pain
And you bring your words, but you're just like them,
you're unprepared
Cause you don't know the terrain

It's a war in there
It's a war in there

But you can hold me now
You can hold me now

Fair Fight : The Fray

She up and died and left you in a fall you can not forget
You were too young, you said "Not yet, not yet, not yet."
That year the cherries choked from pretty pink to red to brown
You looked around but she was nowhere to be found

It's alright, this could be a rough night
So hold tight, this is not a fair fight

Long Road to Ruin : Foo Fighters

For every piece to fall in place
Forever gone without a trace
Your horizon takes its shape
No turning back, don't turn that page

Come now, I'm leaving here tonight
Come now, let's leave it all behind
Is that the price you pay?
Running through hell, heaven can wait

Long road to ruin there in your eyes
Under the cold streetlights
No tomorrow, no dead ends

Tear Your Love Apart : Gomez

There is a flame that flickers and sways
But it knows why we're apart
If there's nothing, (tear our love apart)
If this is just a lie, (tear our love apart)
There's still nowhere I would rather be

There's nothing to blame,
To get in our way
Or tear our love apart
If we're in the same place,
It won't matter where we are

It’s Beginning to Get to Me : Snow Patrol

And it's beginning to get to me
That I know more of the stars and sea
Than I do of what's in your head
Barely touching in our cold bed

Are you beginning to get my point,
That all this fighting with aching joints
It's doing nothing but tire us out
No one knows what this fight's about

Love Knows How to Fight : M. Craft

So if you wanna fuck up with a beer bottle in your hand then so do I
And if you wanna cut up the blueprints and the plans, then so do I
You wanna get messed up, and make a final stand?
Well so do I
‘Cause I look around me and I see nothing can save me now

Love knows how to fight
And fight it will, right up until the end

Hold Hands and Fight : The Rosebuds

And we'll get by
And we tell ourselves one more time

We get by

And we brace ourselves and hold our hands and fight

Catastrophe : Rainer Maria

Catastrophe keeps us together.

We're the architects of the world.

We're taking it all apart.

Do you think we could go on forever

When the architects of the war
are handing out the swords?

But I've got a plan
I'm gonna find you,

At the end
 of the world.

War : Poets of the Fall

When I thought that I fought this war alone
You were there by my side on the frontline
When I thought that I fought without a cause
You gave me a reason to try

Turn the page I need to see something new
For now my innocence is torn
We cannot linger on this stunted view
Like rabid dogs of war

I will let the memory heal
I will remember you with me on that field

Save Me : The Pierces

Was it all in my head?

Or somehow is it truth?

Was it something I said?

I can offer no clue

'cause there's a lot you don't know

but you say you won't go and I'd like to believe you

But I know there's no one left to save me

End Come Too Soon : Wild Beasts

On the cusp
Both of us
Without any maybes but musts
That carry us
To the end too soon

Ink begins to blot
My eyes are bloodshot
They've seen they wish they had not
But it won't stop
The end come to soon

How You Survived the War : The Weepies

You never change your mind once it's made up
Unless it's to crawl back on your knees

Is that the way you want it?
You get back to the wall
And put your hands up
It's a holdup
You give up like every time before
That is how you survived the war

You're not gonna lose this one
You don't have to cut and run
I think you can choose to love and what is more
That is how you survived the war

Start A War : The National

We expected something, something better than before
We expected something more
You were always weird but I never had to hold you by the edges like I do now
Walk away now and you're gonna start a war

Whatever went away I'll get it over now
I'll get money, I'll get funny again
Whatever went away I'll get it over now
I'll get money, I'll get funny again
Walk away now and you're gonna start a war
