The Cupertino Effect

Paul and David sat facing each other in the small sushi restaurant, a bowl of warm, salted edamame between them.

Paul asked, “So how was your day, dear?”

This is where you hope Paul is dreaming, and it's certainly the kind of slow mutation from reality to random that dreams will do to you!

well this is creepy! it reads like a twilight zone episode or something. a lot of disturbing in not a lot of words.

(but also, now i want sushi.)

Progressively creepier, especially since it's not clear if Paul is sliding into a delusion, or waking to a horrible reality beneath everyday illusion, or merely dreaming!
