01.  Cigarettes

Some things in this world are impossible to forget, although you may not realise you remember. Like the smell of cigarettes, that smell of your grandfather’s brand. An imprint, burned in your memory.

oh my goodness. these are absolutely stunning. especially the last one -- wrenched my heart a bit, a little. oh boys. oh boys.

“You don’t understand,” Doumeki says, frustrated. “I don’t want you to pay me back. That isn’t why - I don’t do this for -“ And he stops and looks away. this, especially, i think. just. yes. and the last line, You close your eyes? ... ouch.

I love the theme of lack of communication that you have going. Not one of them can fully express what needs to be said. And so they're in these situations that they cannot escape because they cannot say what so desperately needs to be said.

You're welcome. And while he may think that, the real problem is more that Watanuki cannot understand him. Even if Doumeki's being clear by his own standards.

But I don't think canon!Doumeki really minds all that much. Because he loves Watanuki, he does these things for him, and it doesn't feel like a sacrifice or a favour because these are just things he does, just choices he makes. And whether or not Watanuki knows really won't change the way he feels.

Or something like that. I love the selfless way Doumeki loves. It's one of the things that makes 104 so cute.

Oh dear. I must say, that first one is one of the most painful things I've read. In a good way, of course. It's beautiful, and tragic, and just.. gah. Amazing. It's definately one of my favorites.

The Haruka/Kimihiro with a hurt Shizuka off to the side is one of my favorite angst couplings. Ever.
Although I'm still a total sucker for Shizuka/Kimihiro fluff.

They are all so incredibly bittersweet and ethereal. I love the soft feeling to each piece as it contrast with the sinking feeling in your stomach as you read.
