So good to read this download. Rant it may be but you've said what a lot of people are thinking - I even tweeted it yesterday. I've avoided all the MerDer commenters over the past few weeks. They're actually affecting my enjoyment of the show - and I like MerDer. I;ve loved watching them over the years but I much prefer watching Calzona now (and Mark/Lexie...sad pause). They're engagin and fresh and just lovely together. I must agree with greys_ajunkie that this couple are loved by all regardless of gender and orientation. And that is massive credit to Shonda and her writing team. I love that this is an ensemble show with many characters and intertwined relationships. Long may that continue.
