What an awesome class. I can't wait to hear more about the religions and history course. How wonderful is it that they are both women -- what great opportunities. These kinds of experiences are truly what makes college ever so completely wonderful. I am very envious, says she who has been out a long, long time. And yeah, I'm really excited at the contact made with my phantom reviewer. I pegged it, and then some and I'm just delighted all around.
Having now had another day to confirm their collective awesome, I am even more looking forward to those two classes. And they're on the same days!
The women's perspective WILL be great - the history prof was talking about a priori assumptions in reading history yesterday, and she said hers is definitely that she looks for the gendered language and the presence or absence of information given about women in said historical documents. But she's not a raging feminist either, or at least she doesn't comport herself thus when teaching, so I think it'll be awesome.
Aren't professors who care about their subjects awesome? Both your theology and history professors sounds amazing; there's nothing better than a teacher who really cares to make you care. And it makes the classes so much more interesting, too!
And a focus in medieval queenship is just astounding. I stand astounded.
I stand pretty astounded as well. I really really want to find her books and read them. I know she's particularly interested in Isabella of Castile, whom I adore, but I want to see the range of her research.
AND she said that to focus on medieval queens, she also first focuses on medieval women in general, working up from the peasants to the nobility to the queens themselves. I feel like there is just a wealth of knowledge there waiting to be plundered.
Meto, you are terrifically adorable. I love geeking out over this stuff! I really like the sound of that theology professor, too. I love the kind of teacher where they can talk for ten minutes and you know they're brilliant.
Now I kind of want to be back in class! Well, almost.
