Wow! That was just intense! And best of all, it gave Dean an important role to fulfill that was sadly lacking in canon.

Thank you! I loved the implication in the prompt that if Cas was leading the charge as Dean's right hand then Dean was also doing something important.

Love love love!

Weapon without a wielder! The thimble! So wonderful. Poor Cas taking up the mantle on Dean's orders, even though he is a warrior and not a leader! I love this conflict. And I adore the lines about Dean's standing orders. Cas being boss! Abomination bowing like wheat and angels showing human gratitude? Fabulous!

WHAT an awesome fic. My friend, glad I am to have introduced you to Cas because you are so clearly meant to write his fic. MFEO! There better be more where this came from.

Ahhh, LaRM, you know how infinitely grateful I am that you dangled Cas in front of me until I watched the show (I'm watching TNT's early S1 reruns right now and how much more badass would Cas make them? Much more). Thank you thank you, I'm soooo glad you like this! <333

Because reviews and comments are love and this so deserves them, especially after all the work and thought I know went into this. You so deserve the accolades. You pull this off and so beautifully. The very beginning throws us into the desperate situation so brilliantly, with the Thomas Guide as war map, and the symbols, the sword, the star, the thimble.

The line about Dean wanted to bury himself in the hole that was Lawrence is so poignant. In a paragraph or two you set up this awful, AU vision, what would have happened if Sam had not thrown himself into Hell.

Oh, Lucifer laughing with Sam's voice. OHHHH Followed then by Cas wanting to be sorrier and feel more than he is capable of. The missing sense of Sam is strong throughout this -- he's the third character, felt, but not seen.

A brilliant statement on the dynamic between Cas and Dean and who each is, soars out of the story here: This is what Castiel has always been best at, what he was made for - to do, to follow, to fulfill. Dean told him to get an army, and he ( ... )

This is so gorgeous.

I really want to squee over it at length, but it looks like rthstewart beat me to it. XD

I agree, I was really caught by the image of the map with the little things that symbolized the more vast concepts of a war.

Oh, god. Reading Rainbow. *wibbles* ;_;

Awesome, bamf!Cas and Dean being worn down with grief and *flails*. Just, all of it.

You rock! Thanks muchly.

Ahhh! Yay, thank you, I'm so so glad you like it!

Oh man, I put the Reading Rainbow in and it felt so cheesy but then I couldn't take it out because Sam! He almost certainly watched it as a kid, and Dean would sit there pretending it was super annoying, but he loved it too, secretly.

So glad that bamf!Cas worked for you; awesome, awesome prompt, thank you so much for it!
