Short Durarara!! fic. AH HA HA WHY NOT. Can you tell I’m procrastinating? Because I’m procrastinating pretty hard. The random ficlets will continue until I no longer urgently need to be doing other things. XD
This takes place between volumes 3 and 4 of the light novels. I’m almost certain that Kida hasn’t really run away to Yokohama, but it would be

This is beautiful.
The characterization sounds spot on, and it definitely looks to me like you can picture their behavior and interactions well in your mind! I'm wondering if Kadota is really that grumpy in canon, but now that I think about it, it's way easy to headcanon that he is that grumpy when there's nothing heroic or miraculous like a First Dollars Meeting going on and Karisawa and Walker are yakking in the backseats while he's trying to do something serious (hahaha!). The dialogue sounds so natural and unforced I could kowtow to you for it, and the narrative strikes just the right balance between "tastefully descriptive" and "stripped to the bare essentials"--enough to illustrate the scene clearly without details that feel like filler material (although I can only speak for my own tastes here).
THIS FANDOM NEEDS MORE FROM WRITERS LIKE YOU and and jfdkslafdk now the image of nekomimi Kida is stuck in my head. I will probably doodle it later. Yeah.
Thank you so much for writing this and sharing it with us!

I'm really glad you enjoyed the characterization! Haha, from what I can remember, ninety percent of what Kadota says to Karisawa and Yumasaki is along the lines of "stop that, shut up, omg Karisawa don't molest that little girl," etc. I assume a fair level of irritation, there. XD
Let me know if you end up drawing Kida! :D *looks forward to this possibility*
Thank you again for the comment! ♥

Also, I reread this (several times) and I now feel compelled to tell you that the line "His life is amazing." gets funnier every time I read it, hahaha. So little about Kadota's life is revealed and yet it is already instantly worth making fun of.
And sure, I'd be glad to let you know when I upload it! I am currently imagining stray-cat-Masaomi broodily pacing down rainy, slummy streets, hands shoved in pockets... :>a

I'm glad you liked the Soul Eater fic! I keep meaning to write more fic for that series, but, idk, I never seem to finish anything. :/ SOMEDAY.
Yay, this Kida drawing sounds awesome! :D :D :D

... Now why the hell did I think Karisawa and Yumacchi came off as cute - like, adorable, even while discussin icepicks ? (Probably because they were IC as all hell. THOSE TWO)
Love ! And I'm not sorry that you're writing Durarara!!, at all ♥

I'm glad Karisawa and Yumasaki were properly IC! They have no right to be as lovable as they are. Their defining characteristic is pretty much 'dangerously psychotic'...AND YET. ^_^
Thanks so much for the comment! I'm really happy you enjoyed it despite sad lack of Izaya. XD ♥

But anyway, general judging of Kida's actions aside, Kadota and gang are A+ and hilarious. <333 Also, I love that Kadota chucking them out of the van both acheives and yet defies Mikado's request because that is totally how things roll in DRRR-verse. XD
Now this is reminding me that I always meant to check out the light novel translations to find out what happened next...

Kida: possibly the most *headdesk*-inducing character in the series. WHICH IS SAYING SOMETHING.
I'm really glad you enjoyed Kadota and gang! They're my favorites in canon, I think. Kadota usually manages to bring some sanity, despite everyone else's best efforts. :D
You will be unsurprised to learn that the series only gets weirder as it goes along. IZAYA HAS SISTERS. I don't know why that freaks me out more than almost anything else, but it really does. XD

Plus, any fic with a conversation about Ryu Murakami's books wins my heart by default.
Just excellent, thanks for writing it and sharing.

And I was hoping someone would catch that reference, yay! Karisawa and Yumasaki MUST be Ryu Murakami fans. I refuse to believe otherwise: it is a match made in...somewhere. XD
I'm really happy you enjoyed this! ♥

Anyway, it was a great read. After a month spent in India without internet most of the time, this was really refreshing to see xD

Thank you so much, and I'm glad you found it in character! The first fic for a fandom is always nerve-wracking (magic notwithstanding). ^_^
India! I hope you had a good trip, despite lack of internet. Man. I still haven't been to India. *jealous* :D

I went there to visit family, haha. I go there about every two years, and I must say it's pretty cool once you get past the insane traffic and the occasional poop on the road. There's a lot of good stuff you can buy if you know how to haggle.
