...in a good way! :D

So the overly ambitious KHR fic is, at long, long last, in beta. YAY. Now all I have to do is finish crazy!Ed, and then...well, then I'll instantly bog myself down in a million other projects, but at least they'll be DIFFERENT PROJECTS.

Meanwhile, book recs!

The Vorkosigan Saga )

Ah ha ha!!! YAY!!!

What do you think so far? Where are you, where are you? Are they on the Sophie? Eee!

Also, physically, where are you? Phone calls?

OMG, I am maybe three fifths of the way through it. After failing at jetlag, I have done almost nothing but read today. Currently Stephen has just gone ashore to commune with the animals, and Jack has just realised he has to go back to his ship without picking Stephen up. ;_;

The REMORA! <3 <3 <3

Physically I am at Ruth's place. I've just sent her an email asking whether I can use her VOIP phone tonight. It will depend on her giving the a-ok, and on me staying awake long enough. What's the earliest I can call? 8pm your time/11pm mine?

If that fails, I've managed to unlock my Aussie phone (legally!), but I still need to decide which carrier I'm going to go with and start up an account with them. I can probably manage that by the weekend.

first of all CAN'T WAIT FOR THE EPIC KHR THING!!! ohh looking forward to it so much,

Also curse you! as if I hadn't enough stuff to do and books unread you tempt me with your post.

Fortunately I have already read the Dresden Files (and I totally know what you mean about them eating your life I normally managed to pace myself till around page 150 and then you just have to keep reading) BECAUSE THEY ARE AWESOME!!

harry is so funny and I adore Thomas (and the way he likes to pretend that they are a couple *chortle*) and its a fantasy book with cool, believable female characters and that just blows my mind away every time, cause that so, so hard to find (I'm really hoping lasciel comes back...she was fun)

...and damn you but the aubrey-maturin thing sounds awesome especially because I haven't been able to find good historical fiction in a long long time...

*cackles* Ideally, I'd like everyone to have as many stacks and drifts of unread books as I do. IT SEEMS ONLY FAIR. :D

Oh, Lasciel. ;_; I miss her, too. And Kincaid and Ivy, I miss them. Also I would like more Marcone and Charity and even Lara. Can Sanya just be everywhere and in everything from here on out? XD

The strong female characters, as you say, so cool. Actually, that's one of the charms of the Vorkosigan saga, too, because strong female characters are at least as rare in sci-fi as they are in fantasy. *loves*

Oh God, I hope you enjoy the KHR. *crosses fingers* Looking back on it, I should never have even attempted that, because IT WAS INSANE. But at least it's done now. Unless my beta tells me to rewrite the whole thing. Luckily, that would be unlike her. ^_^

I've loved the Aubrey-Maturin books for AGES, so happy to see you reccing them. 8D

"Your sloth, Stephen, it is eating my hat."

"So he is, too. But do not trouble yourself jack, it shall do him no harm at all!"

Aren't they the most happy-making books ever?

"You might describe them as something that cannot be attempted to be tolerated in the Navy--like wombats. Mean-spirited worthless wretches: cowards, to put it in a word."

"You are unjust to wombats, Jack; and you were unjust to my three-toed sloth."

Also, one of the only times - along with LOTR - that a movie has ever given me as much joy as the books. Changes were made, but you can tell the love and dedication that were put into their creation. *_*

So true. Spent the whole movie saying things like, "Is that...it's Bonden! Bonden, eee!!!" XD And Killick's muttering, that pretending-I-think-you-can't-hear-me muttering--I'd never been able to picture it before, but the actor did a beautiful job with it. <3

But it is one of those movies that makes a lot more sense once you've read the books. They tried to cram so much in, heh. :D
