inyfacemckelvey ponders an age old question:

given a narrow path, who has the right of way?
a. me, pushing a baby in a stroller

b. an angry lesbian in a wheelchair, smoking a cigarette

she thought b. i thought a. disaster ensued.

Context isn't really necessary, this is the post in its entirety.

Whichever one of them is going uphill.

Bless me, what do they teach them in these schools?

Hmm... Person with a physical disability vs (given current knowledge) able bodied adult?

Gee, I'll go with the handicapped woman.

... are you in a wheelchair? No? Then you don't know how much effort it is to stop and start a wheelchair/manoeuvre it out the way/bump down the kerb. It's A LOT easier for the woman with the pushchair to stop.

And "children are always given right of way"? Above the disabled? Not in my world.

Well, we know all we need to know to make the call. Fully mobile woman pushing a buggy vs disabled woman in wheelchair. That's all you need to know. It's a simple call.

It's simple: the wheelchair user has the right of way because it's much easier for the walker to step off the path, with her baby and stroller, and get herself and them back onto the path than it would be for the wheelchair user to do so.

That would be equally true if the wheelchair user were a non-smoking, cheerful heterosexual, and the stroller were being pushed by an angry, cigarette-smoking lesbian.

Wow. Angry homophobic mother pushing about disabled women.

That really is hilarious.

Ok, homophobic father then. It doesn't make much difference in this day and age.

Thing is... the quote is clunky. You read it once, and it's sort of "oh, they collided by accident, that's a tragic accident", but on reading it again you start wondering if they're making any sort of comment about smoking lesbians in wheelchairs... (though I'm still confused about how you can tell, my gaydar is broken beyond all repair).

And... he decided he deserved right of way over someone who was in a wheelchair? ... how's that funny?

Possibly homophobic male nanny, it seems.
I personally don't care either way, I just saw the post and *knew* that things would explode. It's so much fun to watch a train wreck. :-)
