In other news, I finally got through to my husband on the phone today, and it seems that things are somewhat calmer in Guinea, although no businesses are open and it's not exactly safe to go out roaming the streets. Cat yodeling is NEVER not funny.

We are so incredibly lucky to live where we do. I know we all have complaints and assholes are everywhere, but assholes with machine guns and bayonets? That's a whole other level of fucked up.

I hope so too, but I have a feeling it will just end up being a whole lot of strong disapproval from the UN, EU, AU, USA, etc... everyone strongly disapproves but no one is willing to actually step in and do anything! And these military pricks don't give a shit who disapproves, they're too busy shooting people, raping teenage girls and taking joyrides in confiscated SUVs.

The scary part is that Guineans are all talking civil war like it's a foregone conclusion. That would be a monumental disaster.
