Wow, this is gorgeous. I didn't think much about that scene during the episode (preoccupied with other things I guess) but this is a fascinating look at it. I love the structure of the fic, the quotes then the details that follow. And second person fics are extremely hard to get right, but you mastered it.

You’d never really noticed before, but Sam is a bit of a map whore.

Thanks so much! I think that scene was either one that was really poignant or another broken childhood callback, and for me it was more of the latter until I ran across that challenge, and I'm glad I did. It's so interesting to explore the boys' psyches; I'm incredibly relieved you think the format and everything was all right.

Love this: "Your eyes are murderous, you know, and first you punch him, and then you hug him (in the manliest way possible). He looks appropriately confused, and you hit him again for good measure. “The hell were you thinking?” is all you can muster out, because you’re happypissedrelievedhurtSam, and he doesn’t know what to say."

Ugh, that scene where John hits Dean, and Dean's self-esteem is just rock-bottom low, that is a gut punch.

"Sam likes to drive more or less the speed limit, but you know he can drive your interpretation of it if he feels so inclined." - nice.

Great line: "Sometime later-you don’t really know when, because your brain is still filled with Sam and your stomach is still filled with hysteria-"

'Twas the intent, much as it hurt to write it. Though, much as I absolutely loathe John, I can't believe he would beat Dean up or anything. Well, one would hope.

Well, as can I, I just meant I can't see it as a regular thing, à la Max Miller in "Nightmare." All I meant was that I don't imagine John as a serial abuser (at least by his own hand, anyway; indirectly is another story) is all.
