Summary: Tonks is pondering about different ways of feeling pain.
Author’s Notes: I had the idea for this from the beginning, and yet this is the third version. Still not entirely happy with it, but I hope you like it anyway...

She'd always been used to pain.
How could you fall so often and not be?
And yet, somehow, nothing had ever prepared her for this. There was pain far beyond what she had eber felt. And it wasn't the kind of pain that could be taken away just like this, with some little spell, like the pain of having hit your knee while attempting to climb a tree, the kind of pain her mother or father had taken away with a simple spell, a smile and a kiss.
No, this was quite different. It was no physical pain.
She wished she could do something to make the pain go away, and yet she knew that there was only one way to take it away. Only Remus could take it away again. And he obviously didn't want to, or felt like he was not able to do so.
Rain, and mist, it was as if the world outside was mirroring the pain inside her. And here she was, in an empty little room, and all that pain was driving her mad.
She would have called herself weak had she known about this situation two years ago. Now, everything had changed.
And it had made her realise just how much it could hurt you not to be with the one you loved.
She looked out of the window, and wondered for a moment whether he felt the same pain she felt. Probably, but how could she know? She was the one who was left alone here, in the middle of a life that seemed to be made of nothing but hardship and fear any more.
If only he would come and take the pain away.
