Summary: It had been a rather unfortunate coincidence that could only be brought upon by her clumsiness and his ill luck in all aspects of his life. Molly had pretended not to realize she had invited them both over for a cup of tea at the same time, then bolted from the room just as they arrived, coincidentally experiencing an urgent need to do laundry. She and Remus danced around one another for a few minutes, but there was nothing to distract them and so they moved forward to talk to one another. A merry tinkling rang overhead, and Tonks looked up to see mistletoe hanging above her. She and Remus were so close, and he was so tall he must have seen it too.
He opened his mouth to speak and she knew what would come next and reached up to cover his mouth with her thin fingers.
Through the skin pressed against his lips, a bitter grimace wrought its way forth. “You’re crying, Dora.”
“Remus, please,” she said firmly, wiping her eyes with her free hand. “Not tonight.”
