This is great fun - the combination of slightly surreal, almost farcical danger with Remus and Tonks' emotional uncertainty works really well, and I love the explanation of the spider (horrid thing that it was...)
That was great!! I love your Portalverse, so it's nice to see another installment. The beginning was really sweet; I like the idea of Remus' having to fight against exhibiting an embarrassing emotional display in public. They really deserve another chance at raising a child without the prejudices and threats of war. The middle was appropriately suspenceful and exciting. Could the perpetrator be someone from Greyback's old pack, perhaps? Finally, the end was a nice touch, especially the interaction with a grown Harry and Tonks in Auror mode. I hope you do eventually decide to add more to it. Wonderful job.
*ROFL* Of course La Princesse was an Acromantula, it all makes sense now!!!!! *ROFL*
I'm so glad you're writing more stories in the portalverse (who says it's AU?? Not me that's for sure!) Both of their reactions to the news they are to have a daughter (which is just perfect I think!)and their guilt over Teddy just seem so right. It would be difficult for them and they wouldn't be themselves if they didn't feel a little guilty but also excited about the new life. And I enjoyed them working together to deal with the Acromantula, just like the old days ;)
Your writing is fabulous as always, I really felt the emotion and then with the action sequences you had me right of the edge of my seat.
Squee! What a perfect start to this event, and what a classic jesspallas fic! You did everything you do best: made me all gooey right from the start with Remus having another Shell Cottage moment about Arachne (Teddy seriously needs to pick that name. Arachne Lupin -- poor child!), an action sequence that could have come straight from a movie scene, and lots of laughs. You really nailed the wackiness of St. Mungo's with all the ailments; poor green furry guy! And I've always wondered just how the Magical world keeps such HUGE secrets from the Muggles, and what on earth they'd do if something really huge got loose, and I think you dealt with it just right. My absolute favorite line in this was the bit about Muggles thinking they saw a pink-haired policewoman with a mad transvestite. Bet Remus never wears robes again
