Aww, Tegdoh, this is lovely! You obviously put a lot of thought into your prompt: such a simple word, yet it spawned this marvellous fic. I like how it's broken up into separate parts, so the reader has time to pause and absorb what has happened before you move them onto the next episode in the story. Harry's reaction to Remus and Tonks is adorably adolescent: even though he's a parent himself, you can tell he still thinks of Remus as a teacher. Teddy's gift is a perfect example of his intelligence, but also shows how young he is in that he doesn't consider why it might be shocking. I really thought you captured Remus well here: his thoughtfulness, that slight air of sadness which comes from his illness, but also the happiness of having his own family.

“Nudge over,” she demanded as she sat next to him and curled her legs up over his. Obligingly, he put his arms around her and cradled her in his lap. - this is a lovely little moment because it shows how comfortable they have become in each other's company. :)

And a great ending!

Thank you very much for such thoughtful comments. I think at this age Teddy would be a bit oblivious as to the darker implications of his father's condition, but I imagine him as being a very thoughtful, intelligent kid and hence the gift. Give him a couple of years and it might become an issue, though I think he'd work through it fairly quickly.

Yeah, I can see him being sensitive about it in early adolescence, around his first two years at Hogwarts (probably due to some idiotic remarks) but he would definitely get over it thanks to his supportive family and his own inner strength. :)

How sweet! Your denial-verse is just great. My favorite parts:

The adults are still on eggshells about Remus's furry little problem. A thoroughly angsty individual would not give all of that up, even if he did change the way he handled it.

Harry is close to them

They live with Andromeda (?) or are at least very close. Because, really, why on Earth would they have ever done anything else? (personally, I think closeness with extended family is a sign of the good emotional health of the family members)

Several years and two kids later they are still so in lurve and want to sex each other up!

*squee!*

aw, thanks. As far as I'm concerned, they all lived happily ever after.

This is such a great take on the prompt, and I'm refusing to call this fluff, more 'Things As They Really Are ( ... )

Thank you so much, especially for the comment about Teddy having characteristics of both his parents. I tend to identify with Remus a bit more than Tonks, and yet Teddy should be a reflection of both of them. I tend to imagine Tonks treating the whole werewolf issue very matter-of-factly with their kids, and so Teddy's reaction upon seeing the watch is just what a neat gift it would be for his dad.

I'm also glad you think it works well with the prompt, since my first reaction upon seeing them was "oh, dear."

Awww I can't decide which made me go aww more, Teddy being such a thoughtful, perceptive little boy, or Olivia being a chocoholic like her Daddy. ;)

This is so, so sweet, and I really love this happy family scene, complete with Andromeda, Harry, Ginny, and James, and Remus' and Tonks' little ones. As gilpin25 said, this is The Way Things Are, not AU. ;) You dealt sweetly and realistically with The Werewolf Thing through Teddy's gift -- I liked that little moment of Remus and Tonks both being a bit wrong-footed and not quite pleased by the fact that Remus' moon issues are such an ingrained part of life for their little boy, and yet it's also neat how Remus is healed enough to be touched by it, as well, and to feel the unquestioning acceptance of his son. It's just what he needs.

I really liked this, thanks so much for writing happy R/T + Teddy fic for us!

You're welcome!

Sometimes I don't know on whose behalf I'm more ticked at JKR - Remus or Andromeda. I much prefer the idea of them both having a chance at a happy life with family all around.
