That was really beautiful and fascinating to see another differing perspective on their relationship - I'm pretty sure that's not an angle I've seen used before and in R/T that's a rarity! Jack was lovely and so was his relationship with Dora and indeed Remus. Thanks for sharing. :)

Thank you very much! I'm so glad you felt this perspective offered something new -- it's always nerve wracking to introduce an OC, but to do a fic from an OC's pov is, well, not something I've done before. So I'm glad you liked Jack and his relationship with our couple. Thanks again for leaving a review, I do appreciate it. :)

That was so lovely and so bittersweet. I adored Grandpa Tonks! And seeing Remus and Tonks through his eyes was wonderful, Grandpas really have a unique way of seeing the world especially as it relates to their adored Granddaughters. I loved the idea that he would do that for Remus. I loved the part they broke in out of the home for a day at the seaside! I wish I could have done that for my Grandad.

The descriptions of the end of Grandpa's life were incredibly powerful, brought back memories of the last few weeks with my own Grandad. I had tears in my eyes reading that part.

I also liked the contrast between the two funerals, that each would have liked the other's, as well as the comparison that Remus was there holding her hand for both of them.

This is such a beautiful piece, I'm so glad you got it finished in time!

Thank you! I'm so glad you like Grandpa, there's a lot more I wanted to do with him but it didn't quite fit here, so I'm glad I have the rest of the Ducking verse to address those other aspects of his character. I think Grandpas are always going to have a particular soft spot for their granddaughters, sort of like daddy's girls, only amplified by a generation. ;) Glad you liked the breakout, because who among us haven't wished we could do something like that for our older relatives? It was too much to resist to do that here.

I've never really written about a character dying before -- or not intimately, so in that sense it was difficult, but the actual words came easily, being from his POV. I'd like to think that as difficult it is for an observer, the act of dying is easy and peaceful with acceptance, and that's what I was going for here.

Thank you so much for your kind words, I'm so pleased you liked it. :)

This is wonderful! I think it's one of my very favorite things that you've written. Jack is just marvelous -- I love the way he's a little naive about the magical world (and knows he is) but at the same time has a fundamental grasp of what's important. I love his relationship with Tonks, and I can see how much that would have meant to her throughout her life if her parents were sometimes a little judgmental. Seeing Remus through Jack's eyes is really effective -- I'm glad Jack understood him so well, and what he and Tonks have together; I really get the sense that Jack has seen so much of life that he wants to cut right through convention and society's expectations and just do things that are humanly right (as when he hopes that Remus and Tonks are living together, which is not a thought that all grandfathers would have ( ... )

Oh, thank you! I did have a wobble early on about writing a fic entirely from the pov of an OC, so it's awfully gratifying to have people say that they like Jack. I know so much more about him than I had time to put in this fic and would love to pull him out again sometime. I think Jack has seen enough to know that nothing is more important than Dora's happiness, and he trust her to know what's best for her, and so, as you say, convention doesn't matter.

I think it'll be interesting to use this fic as a guide when I come to writing some of the Ducking timeline from Remus or Tonks' pov, to explore the effect Jack's honesty has on Remus and whether he needs Tonks to point out the significance of it.

Jack's legacy is, for the moment, lost, and Remus and Tonks don't know about it. I have vague plans for how they will find out, but you'll have to stay tuned for that!

Thank you again for such a lovely review. :)
