Aww! I'm so glad you were able to finish this for the challenge, because it's a wonderful read. Where to start? It's lovely just to think of Remus and Tonks finally settling into a peaceful life after the war, and having the relaxing and fun honeymoon they never had a chance to take. Also, I love the "souvenir" they were after from the get-go, hee.

But this is also wonderful for the way it shows that their whole outlook on life has shifted now that they are parents -- if Tonks has grown up, Remus has grown out of his painful self-doubt into the kind of dad we would expect a Marauder to be ( ... )

You have no idea how thrilled I am that the end came as a surprise! I've never felt like I'm able to pull off a good twist, but I was really hoping this would read like Remus and Tonks were going to go home early from their holiday, rather than have the boys come home to them. If that had been the only comment you'd had about the fic, I'd have been thrilled, but as it is you've said so many lovely things I think my face is going to be permanently stuck in a grin. :D ( ... )

*Squee!* would probably suffice, here, but...
This is really one of the sweetest, funniest things I've read, and I love the 'belated honeymoon' concept, though I always love your AU fics.
Poor Harry, babysitting the Lupin kids:D
Squee, indeed.

Thank you so very much! I'm just thrilled you liked this and that it gave you a laugh -- which means a lot coming from you!

Terrific story, and a *wonderful* closing line. I know how Harry feels: being left alone with both niece & nephew is something I avoid at all costs.

Aw, thanks! I actually considered ending the fic with another brief scene, so I'm very glad, since you liked this ending line so much, I didn't!

And I agree! There's a reason why I don't have children yet, and it's that while I enjoy playing with other people's kids for a while, I'm generally very ready to give them back before I have to change their diapers!

The fact was that they had not been taken from Teddy, and their life was such that they were at liberty to take week-long holidays.

The best line of the whole fic! Perhaps of the whole challenge!

This is a wonderful denial!fic. You've really captured the ambivalence of first-time parents getting away from a holiday. And yea! to Harry having a chance to grow up, and just be a teenaged boy for a while. I love the idea of Remus and Tonks acting as a surrogate family for him. I never really bought the idea of the Weasleys taking on that role - who wants to be parented by your girlfriend's mum and dad?

And woo boy, they got to work on that honeymoon "souvenir" in record time.

Thank you very much! Not having any children (yet) myself, I'm always a bit nervous about how parenting fics will go over with the R/T fans who are moms, so I'm thrilled to hear from you that you think I've pitched Remus and Tonks right here!

I agree with you about Harry and the Weasleys -- my thinking is that they just already have such a full nest, even with grown-up children, that as much as they all love him, I'd love for Harry to be with Remus and Tonks, where they can give him more attention and he can live a little quieter life with someone who meant so much to his own father.

Couldn't resist sending them on a honeymoon to have lots of sex, and since Remus and Tonks have set a precedent for getting pregnant easily, it seemed fun to think of them planning to have another baby and getting it right the second time. ;)

Thanks so much for all your words, especially that comment about the line you quoted. It's kind of my personal thesis statement about R/T!

Where should I start?

This was absolutely fabulous. I love Denial!Fic and this has been one of the very best. Harry's letters were so good and so funny - you've really got a handle on his voice here and I love that (I've always found him impossible to write and am always in awe of someone who does it well!). And how Harry seemed to play off how 'easy' it was to take care of a child only to have that last ending line...genius!

I have to say though...this was my very favourite part:

"Why does everyone operate under the assumption that I have no Quidditch ability? Just because I didn't play in school and don't join in the games at the Burrow doesn't mean I can't play."

"Can you play?" asked Dora.

"No idea. I never had enough interest in the sport to try."
I choked laughing. I think what I love most of all is that you get a real sense of GROWTH in all the characters. It's clear that everyone's gotten it together (from Tonks being a mother to more than one to Remus being able to joke about his age). I have to say, my heart stopped a ( ... )

I'm so glad so many R/T fans like denial fic, and I really appreciate your words about mine because there are some really awesome ones out there! Thanks especially for your words about Harry, because I was quite nervous about writing him, I suppose because there's left room for personally interpreting the primary character of the series ( ... )
