Oh, wow...

I'm afraid I'm having a hard time coming up with something original to say, so I'll give up and just say that I teared up too, and was struck by the way it feels like a nightmare, except for the peace and delicacy of the hands (I love the delicate beauty of the ring). This is a fantastic interpretation especially of the Shakespeare prompt, and it does take away some of the sting of their untimely end to think of them together forever.

In terms of texture from light and shadow, I don't know anything about artistic techniques, but what I thought was interesting was that the hands, Bellatrix, and the castle all have very different textures, and the way you use the light and shadows seems to reflect that. I definitely see shape and depth in each of those parts of the image.

Thanks for noticing the little details. You have a great eye for details, often pointing out things I never even noticed about my own drawings (or are they paintings? IDK Stuff?).

I really dig my prompts. The sonnet perfectly sums up their angst-ridden existence; torn between the perils of the world and their own little love nest ;) While the word "race" has so many wonderful and relevant meanings. For the last piece, the rivulets of tears were the "race" while in this one, I'm thinking about "race" in terms of the path of the cosmos; the life/death cycle.

Like most others, I'm sitting here unable to think of something coherent to add to all that has been already said. You're a master of the subtle and yet you convey so much through your pictures.

The sinister background of Hogwarts and Bellatrix and the softness of Remus and Tonks' hands are beautiful in their contrast of what they represent. My eyes are always drawn to the thin band on Tonks' finger for some reason, there's just something quite powerful in the fact that you had her left hand lying in his right one. Its a representative of how even Bella who represents Death, cannot part these two.

And like the others point out, the love and tenderness is totally palpable in the way Remus is grasping Tonks' hand.

Stunning work! I look forward to more of your art in this jumble

Awwww Shucks! Thank you!

I luuuurve Remus and Tonks and just want them to be happy... and together... and alive. Is that too much to ask? *sniff*

::sob:: Didn't know if I wanted to look at it, but I'm glad I did. It's nice to know I'm not the only one still grieving fictional characters almost a year after the fact!

We have virtual clubhouse full of grievers here. It's good to have the company! *sniff*

Argh, lj ate my comment!! well here we go again:

Wow. The contrast between the sickly green and black colours of Bellatrix and the warm living skin colours of the hands is really powerful. And also quite ironical, as Bellatrix is the one who is alive and Remus and Tonks are dead... It is a sad statement that those who embraced life and love are the ones who end up paying the high price. (but luckily Bellatrix gets it too in the end!)

I also love the tender hold Remus has on Tonks' hand (and admire how skilfully you have rendered the differences between male and female hands). You can just imagine how he has held back, wanting to know that she was safe, and how he will now help her on to the best of his abilities.

I'm glad you took up the challenge of leaving out the lines. It works really well for this piece, together with the colours giving it a slightly surreal feel. I especially like the sculpting on Bellatrix, and also her really dramatic and dynamic pose.

Very well done!

Thanks so much for all the compliments and also for the suggestion of leaving out the black lines. This piece was different for me from start to finish and it was a nifty experience to just let it form without plotting it all out and meticulously cleaning it all. I'm fairly pleased with the result.

On the other hand, I'm frustrated with the foreshortening in Bellatrix's pose. The right hand is too big, the left too small, I think.

I luuurve R/T. *sigh*

I love this.

The contrast between the horrific images of battle with the serene and peaceful invitation to the next life is very potent and powerful.

I've never seen fan art from the pov of someone on the receiving end of an Avada Kevadra before, and you handle this unique perspective very well. I'd like to think that this is how it really happens--a peaceful end, rather than a painful one.

Plus, you manage to evoke a great deal of tenderness and love with the simple image of two hands. Beautifully done.

Thanks for your comments. The approach to this piece was really different for me and it just sort-of evolved. I hadn't planned to make it from Tonks' perspective; just had this loose idea of Remus taking her hand. But as I drew the scene from back to front, it just became what Tonks was seeing.

I'm so glad you like it.
