So, you may or may not remember that job I had this summer doing data entry and whatnot at Alps Automotive. WELL. Apparently I did a good job, so the project manager I worked with called me yesterday and was like "hi, we need help again, wanna come back?" And since it's a longer assignment (until October) and I'd be getting 20ish hours a week ( Read more... )

Yay, just like the rest of us! "Us" meaning people who don't work in coffee shops. Or people that don't work at all. Or people who work at places that don't have coffee. Or...

EPIC POST, DUDE! And so innocuous-seeming upon first glance. I AM GLAD YOU ARE QUITTING AND GETTING A BETTER-PAYING AND (HOPEFULLY) LESS STRESSFUL JOB! *HUGS*

Haha, epic? I dunno, I feel like the post about Sonali was a bigger deal?

But yes, I am glad I am quitting too. Boo stress and yay more money!

Hahaha, yes, that was MORE epic. This was just semi-epic. 'Cause you've been working at Caribou for so long now! I can no longer tell people that my BFF is a barrista. ;) (Which I still can't spell.)

Sounds like a sweet job. How did you find it? When you first got hired, I mean. I've been looking for a new job for a while now, but alas, I seem to qualify for nothing, despite having a degree.

Um, nepotism, pretty much. My sister got me the job the first time. But I guess I did good enough that they want me back?

What degree do you have/what sort of profession are you looking for?

Your sister is pretty cool. Haha.

I have a BA in psychology. You can't really do anything with that unless you take it to grad school, so right now I'm just looking for something that will pay enough for me to afford living on my own, to keep me going until I decide to go back to school. But it seems that most places are concerned mainly with experience, not education. I can type quickly and answer phones like a pro but no one trusts me to do it. Booooo.

Hmm yeah. I'm not exactly the expert on it or anything, but I suggest using a temp agency. They usually get you into jobs like that, and if they like you enough they have you stick around. I've had a lot of friends do that.

Awww...this means no more being able to force you to make me coffee and then wishing you weren't all the way behind the counter, so I could stuff a tip in your pants instead of a jar. :-(

But yays! for new job! And what I think is a good salary...? *has never had a job*

Um, you could come to my office building and I can make you coffee in the coffee maker? And I could stand behind some table?

Yes, my current pay is like $7.60 + tips which is only like an additional 1 or 2 an hour. 14 = A+++ Especially since I have no degree or experience.
