My granny spent most of her childhood, from about age 10 to 16, in the Masonic Children's Home. She married my grandpa while still in her teens; he was from the Home too. Your grandma sounds like my sort of person. Rhubarb and tomatoes! Actions speak much louder than words, and I'm sure she must have shown affection to her family. Some people just need to hear the words all the time. Give your mom a hug and some rhubarb pie.
