The day after my birthday is not my birthday, Mum!

Feb 02, 2009 00:18

I had a very low key birthday, which is just how I like them. I woke up this morning feeling kind of cruddy, so that sucked. My head felt funny, but once I got out of bed and moved around, my head was fine, but my stomach felt funky. I couldn't eat anything, but since we planned on going to the movies I decided to get ready and go with it. ( Read more... )

Damn, I'm sorry you've been feeling out of it all day. I hope that ice cream cake made you feel better!

I've been wanting to watch RR because I need to see the Kate/Leo goodness, but having read the book, I already feel depressed about the ending.

BTW, what is this damn Puppy Bowl? Never heard of it till I saw today's Writer's Block question.

Thanks. You know, my stomach actually did feel a bit better after I had the cake. I just hope I'm better tomorrow and not worse.

How was the book version of RR? I had considered reading the book, but after watching the movie, I don't think I can or really want to read it (basically the opposite of your situation).

The Puppy Bowl is a bizarre and adorable show. It's on the same time as the Super Bowl, and it's just a bunch of puppies playing in a small, fake football stadium. There's a human referee and a guy who comments on what the puppies are doing. Kittens come out for the half time show. Basically, you're just watching puppies play and fight with each other. But it's fun and entertaining!

Glad to hear your stomach's more settled now.

I actually found the book quite boring. I guess I'm just not much for subtlety because the book was strangely too quiet for me. I understand the point was that the marriage was in a state of quiet chaos, but I just wanted more to happen.

Heh, I just watched a YouTube clip of last year's Bowl, and that's ridiculously adorable!

It sounds like they didn't stray too far from the book when they made the movie. I would also describe the movie as quiet with not much happening, and the focus is on a marriage slowly descending into chaos. I think the movie had too strong of an effect on me. As I mentioned in my post, I found it incredibly depressing, and the ending made me feel disturbed and uncomfortable. I'm afraid to read the book because I fear that it will have an even stronger effect than the movie.
