We had our gig at the Brush last night. Didn't go too well. The soundman was useless. During soundcheck we must have asked him 15 times to put some guitars through the monitors before he actually did, and then only just. However, when we got on stage there was nothing coming from the monitors except the vocals.

Soundmen are great aren't they. I've had very few gigs where I can actually hear something other than mush come through monitoring.

Very true. I think the best sound I've had at gigs was when there wasn't a soundman at all. Just someone with a rough idea of sound playing about until it sounded good. In fact the only time I've ever been able to hear properly through the monitors was with my old band at the gigs we had at the Minerva. That's because our singer and bass player owned the pa and put on the gigs in the first place.

I'm gonna see what the audio's like on the video and try to get something off it. I'd be happy with 3 decent sounding tracks to put on a cd. Not a proper demo, just something I can play to mates when they ask what we sound like. We need to do a proper demo asap though.

That sucks sweetie. But then the fact that it was the Brush really says it all. Hopefully the next gig will be better!

As long as you can get a crowd there, the Brush isn't actually a bad place to gig. They've only just changed the soundman as the promoter fell out with the last one. Shame, he was really good!

Yep, typical soundman comment. Most of them really don't have a clue, do they.
