Today, in the philosophy lecture I TA for, the professor told a story about one of his philosophy professors, which I found telling. And in more ways I think than was intended.

...thus Prometheus decided maybe mankind shouldn't be given Free Energy, and so the Eternal Light was forever extinguished.

That said, the untechnologists were more interested in how you extinguish an Eternal Light rather than create one in the first place.
