The longboats arrived with little warning on the western shore of the city. Night had already begun to fall by the time the first ship drew close. Dangerously close. Port be damned, the strange invaders were going to land here. Where traditional ships would have a mermaid or other nautical ornament as a figurehead, these longboats were adorned with all manner of skeletal parts. Skulls stared out at their target accompanied by long bony arms that seemed only slightly too lifelike to be mere decoration.

One terrible gnashing, grinding, ripping noise later made it very clear that the arms were far more than what they seemed. With aid from the skeletal limbs, the longboats were forcing their way on to the land, tearing away guardrails and sending citizens scattering. Overall, ten longboats of varying sizes and degrees of ferocity clawed their way to dry land, and scarcely had the first landed than its payload was dropped.

A horde of living skeletons, armed with guns, swords, and shields, stormed from the deck down to dry land. Though vastly outnumbered by the undead forces, a few normal humans stuck out in the battalion. The troops deployed in waves, but wasted no time in killing any Metällia citizens who got in their way. One group, led by the members of the first ship to land, quickly began making its way to Cafe Apocalyptica at the heart of the port. Another carved a path to Mammon Amarth.

The largest group was the last to land. Easily two or three hundred soldiers, alive and undead, poured into the streets. Anyone the previous two groups had missed were slaughtered on the spot. Before dispersing, a gentleman in a rather ornate outfit, his rank shown by bloodstains and blades, finally joined his troops on the shore. Though his identity would not be known to the average citizen, the cadre of Necromancers that provided a fresh supply of skeleton warriors whenever necessary would call him Falkenbach.

Once Falkenbach's unit had made swift work of any stragglers, he was off to storm the Metal Church. But he had planned for the eventuality of unprecedented attack and left one boat at sea. There, a group of powerful magi blessed by the Mindtraveller waited, preparing their spells for the moment Falkenbach's last soldier left. As soon as the coast was clear, they set loose their magical abilities and began laying waste to the surrounding area.
