Awww.... found this tonight and got the biggest rush of nostalgia for Capoeira. Damn, i miss doing a martial art where music is such a central element. :-/

Oh, oh, here's another one that's not so tricks-based. This style of Capoeira looks like Regional as well, unlike the one above, which i think is Angola, a slower style.

Yeah, it really is. It's so different to every other martial art i've done... so light and playful and joyful. Not that other MA can't be that, but Capoeira is special. Did you see the game starting 3min 18sec in the second clip? Now THAT is Capoeira! Such love, such respect, such skill. Plus a cheeky headbutt into the bargin!

yes! i remember that bit! i rewound it and watched it the first time round. i really love how it seems to be based on mutual creation - like a "yes, and..." kind of thing.

yes, that's it! It's a call and response kind of thing, which is why they call it "playing" rather than "sparring" or "fighting". It is like you both get together to create something beautiful. :)
