Right, so. NaNoWriMo isn't done, though it ends tonight at midnight, and I'm already thinking about my next project. Someone, stop me-I don't have the time to start another novel project, no matter how interesting I think it could be ( Read more... )

... Um. Curious, have you ever read Peeps? It is a bit like that.

That sounds awesome, though. I... have a thing for the dark and supernatural. Just a little. :|

Nope! I haven't been doing much reading lately, admittedly.

Ay; I haven't either. It's so busy.

Peeps is... very much vampirism-as-disease. Parasite, actually. It's kind of fascinating, though it takes a sharp turn for the bizarre, towards the end of the book.

I'd like to see a well written story about a vampire boy who falls in love with a human girl

and then eats her.

It would be beautiful. Like how twilight should have gone down. BLOODBATH IN THE CLASSROOM.

...♥ But your plot sounds cool, you should run with it.

Hahahah well one of my random musings was that someone's love interest should die. But now you have provided me with an avenue for that! :D

That's actually only the most recent portrayal of vampires. I read a very interesting article a few months ago that tracks the changes in how vampires have been portrayed decade-by-decade. I'll send you the link, if I can find it. The sparkly-pretty-boy thing is really only quite recent. Vampires were portrayed very differently for a long time.

Also, do you read Sharon Shinn? 'Cause one of her books is called The Alleluia Files. =3 I immediately noticed the similarity.

And one year for NaNo, I wrote about angels, too. XD It's a fun topic.

Ah, here we are. It's specifically about Dracula, actually, and it doesn't cover all the different portrayals of vampires over the years, of course, but it's a nice overview of the whole image-of-vampires thing, at least in film: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=96282132

Well, yeah. I'm pretty sure the first person to do the vampirism-disease thing was the guy who wrote I Am Legend, but I could be wrong! I'm just saying it's been done before xD;

Also lmfao I do read Sharon Shinn, as it were. I've read all of her books actually haha. Aerowyn used to be borrowed pretty heavily from her universe, except I decided I didn't want to write a fanfiction for NaNo and changed his entire world.

I wasn't addressing the vampirism-disease thing directly, I was just sharing an interesting article I found that goes into the history of it all. :) Just thought you'd find it interesting, since you were on the topic of their portrayal in the media.

Ahaha, got it, so it wasn't a total coincidence. I only read about the first three of her angel books, I think, but I liked them. ^_^ It was a fun universe she created.
