Does the "healthcare reform" that finally passed actually give anyone improved access to health care, or reform anything other than the lining of the pockets of Insurance Corporazi?

Trying to read about this on the news sites - even the liberal ones - is giving me a fucking headache.

A long while ago, probably even right from the conception of the idea, this bill was not about helping the normal person. Not about helping those who have to wait and see whether something will kill them before considering going to the hospital to do something about it. Not about children, elderly, poor, hardworking. It's all about the power struggle, as the unanimous voting with no chance to compromise shows. It's about not letting some other guy win, no matter who else it hurts. It's not even about values.

Stranger yet, it's about some perceived slide into the evils of socialism (without pointing to any part of the bill that backs that up), so the rich old white guys can have their one last bout of heroic patriotism before they face the grave.

This is why you can't find any information on what the bill is even ABOUT anymore. I mean, at least the concerns about abortion coverage are actual concerns.
