Godwin's Law is a debater thing, was particularly useful as a way of tying up a usenet flame war - you could either say the thing that would cause someone to invoke Godwin and end the debate, or you could do the invoking of Godwin yourself.
Godwin's Law is definitely a debater thing...it recognizes that anyone who brings up the Third Reich likely has alterior motives (appeal to emotion). I think that's relevant.
In any case, it's a moot point now. In the last two years America has careened JUST TOO DAMN CLOSE FOR COMFORT to not only fascism but a science-fictionish techno-totalitarian one-world-government, a para-fascist nightmare. In just two years!
I agree with the fascism bit, but...I don't think any of this is the fault of DARPA. Its the fault of a nation that has lost the reigns on its representative government.
The corporations and metacorps bought out the American democratic government, and have systematically destroyed its checks-and-balances system many times over, and now it serves just as decorative a purpose as the

I'd just like to point out that this makes absolutely no sense. Nobody is competing with you to see who can drink draino first. There's quite a lot of competition for the top military power on Earth...has been for oh, several thousand years at least.
The world will not stop for you, no matter how badly you want it to. Sticking your head in the sand will not do anything but expose your ass.
