Incredibly unappealing whale

I'm sick and tired of one of my friends copying me. We both love to draw and she can't seem to stop drawing the exact same things as me. Not to mention she tries to outbeat me in everything I do. Basketball, singing, photography... everything. Gosh, I need some fresh air ( Read more... )

Usually I think "Imitation is a form of flattery" is load of smelly bullcrap, but I think in this situation, it might be true. Your friend obviously admires you, so much so that it's starting to bother you. I had a similar sort of issue with a person in my primary school. She and I were both excellent artists and we were constantly at loggerheads, competing to see who was the "better artist". I don't like competition. If I want something to strive towards, I want it to be for my own personal satisfaction and not for the knowledge that I beat someone else at it. It's mean. This girl had a better work ethic than me and it just inspired endless jealousy in me. Rawr.

So take it from me... your friend wants to be better than you and you should take it as a compliment! But if it's really irking you sideways, maybe help her to find a style of her own. At our age it's not unusual to be a little confused as to what to do with yourself. -hits self on head with salmon-

"If I want something to strive towards, I want it to be for my own personal satisfaction and not for the knowledge that I beat someone else at it." That was very well put. ;)

Yeah, I guess I should try to help her find a style - I think that I've always been trying to put the "bar higher" so that she couldn't really keep up. Your advice = much better than my plan.

Hi, this is Lisa. xdark_secretsx. I got a rename token. I had it that everyone who had be friend remove me from their flist, though I kept all the people added. I hated the unevenness.

Anyways, add me back?
