Yesterday was 50 years since Yuri Gagarin first flew into space.
I loved a quote he said on this programme I was watching:
He said: "There is no god, I was up there, I didn't see him"....
Buzz Auldrin had communion on the moon....
I prefer Gagarin....
Though how much is science more important than anything else....

I think the issue is in what their quotes conveyed. While I don't buy into them, the moon landing team reading the passages they did as the Earth rose over the moon's horizon conveyed a feeling of "LOOK HOW AMAZING ALL OF THIS IS." For me, at least. Meanwhile, Gagarin's quote, to me, conveys a feeling of "IT WAS EMPTY AND BLEAK UP THERE."
So while I understand your issues with the difference in their quotes, that's just how the two of them feel to me. o_O
