New single in August / OHP renewal

Wow, cool that you were able to go to the show!!! :D What was the Kinema song like?

I'm kind of ambiguous towards them nowadays...I mean the old stuff clicked with me instantly, but their music in the past 1-2 years grew on me very slowly (and there's some that didn't at all XD). I don't know in details about all this change and stuff but as long as they don't overwork themselves and have fresh/cool ideas, I'll totally be sticking with them. :)

Unbalance Kinema is a lot of fun. The melody is catchy and it feels a little nostalgic, European almost. It is a very good example of the 'retrock' Merry aim(ed) for. :)

mmm, I think I am still in shock so if my words appeared aggressive it isn't aimed at you at all and rather my shock and disappointment at the band. Perhaps I am overreacting a little but it just wasn't what we were expecting. A nasty shock, to put it another way.

Unbalance Kinema sounds cool from what you wrote (I imagined that it's kind of "retrock"-y from the title)! :)

And no problem at all, opinions are opinions! For now, I like the sample and just thrilled that there's something new...whether I'll like the full thing or not, well, time will tell.

Somehow, I have to agree with above comment - I don't feel much Merry there. The website, preview, their looks - it's all so unfamiliar.
know bands tend to change and it's normal, and in most cases I'm okay with it and I'm not going all dramatic about it, but there... Duh. I just don't know. Maybe I should just wait, maybe the preview isn't the best base I should judge them on. But I'd really like to actually hear Gara's singing voice, not this screams, growls and whatnot. Don't get me wrong, I love songs like under-world or Friction ××××, but there I don't hear anything Gara-ish or even Merry-ish. D:
Buttt. I totally approve the looks. Somehow it reminds me of Sweet Powder ones. ♥

Anyway. I'm excited about their comeback and I'm sure waiting for August will KILL me.

To be honest, I'm relieved to see them putting out a release at all, since they haven't dropped anything new in a long time. Between Gara's back and the change in labels AND management (which I understand is very tricky business in Japan) part of me was starting to worry if it was the beginning of the end for them. On the other hand, I agree with some of the other posters here: this change in style has to be a business decision. Its not that its good or bad necessarily, it just doesn't suit them or take advantage of the unique talents of the members as songwriters, musicians and performers. IMHO.

Part of me just wants to go with it and love it. Part of me wants to embrace their new sound and new look. But I don't even know who they are anymore. I'm not getting much from the sample so I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Btw, took a look at your profile and love the way you have it set up :D Based on your musical interests, may I recommend heidi.? Don't know if you have ever listened to them but you might really like them.
