Note that is only one of several ways to beat the game. This walkthrough hopefully will be helpful for new players, people who have problems and especially those who try to play in offline mode.
With my heartfelt thanks to my friend
hnhatthanh for all his help and pointing out many details I would have overlooked otherwise.
← Back to part 5 New Allies available at Hunter Rank 5: Kisara is an Assassin with 3 AP and the Twin Flame Saber. While „Lava Burst“ sometimes misses (if that happens, quickly send your character or any fast team member), it is powerful, her „Raging Tiger“ attack also is not bad at all. Popey is a Paladin with over 6K HP (when equipped). He wields „Gungnir“, a powerful spear with the Slay ability. There are others you may want to hire, but those two I found most useful. In another of my games I had combinations like Kisara-Avatar-Lucy (worked fine), and I am pretty sure that there are many different combinations which work.
Formation/Tavern: While you should fire whom ever you have in your team (unless you already recruited GubrutSky), then hire Popey and Kisara (or keep Lucy and only hire Kisara, or only hire Popey or hire whom ever you want), I kept GubrutSky and replaced Lucy by Kisara (as Kisara has more HP, I put her up front to tank for GubrutSky, while poor Carlos ended up at the rear end once more). Just for the fun of it. Because the next thing I did was going after Viegraff.
„Viegraff Challenge“ (a test run): GubrutSky managed to „Slay“ Viegraff in 6 AP, even without Chili. Slay + 30% or more CRIT rate = awesome! („I am a Rogue Rank 8 now“ said Carlos.)
And how to beat Viegraff without GubrutSky? My friend hnhatthanh beat him with Popey, Kisara and two Iron Skins. With just a bit of luck, Popey will use the Slay ability in time. If not, sooner or later your team mates will beat him down with the normal damage they deal. With an Iron Skin, they survive a round during which Viegraff attacks. I remember that with one of my teams I had Kisara and Lucy equipped, with Kisara + my own character as the main damage dealers (with Chili Peppers). You either need a party member with the "Slay" ability or someone who can deal massive raw damage and maybe has mutlitple attacks, a combination of both Slay and raw damage probably works best.
Formation/Tavern: Do not do this, it is too expensive … but for testing purpose, I replaced GubrutSky by Popey (while you should hire either GubrutSky or Popey-or someone else and keep them for awhile, not hire them one after the other; after unlocking Viegraff he should be your first choice anyway, until you unlock Gabriel). (Popey - Front, Kisara - Middle, Carlos - Back)
As it turned out during the next mission, Popey isn't bad at all, but GubrutSky crits and uses Slay more often.
Equip: Assigned Assassin Class.
„Black Knight“: This is an even better Gold farm (Ores) than „Temple Guardian“, as here you get two Gold Ores (plus one Titanium Ore) for only 17 areas. Black Knight is a very rewarding mission in general.
Formation/Tavern: Now I did what I should have done before: recruited Viegraff. (Formation: Viegraff - Front, Kisara - Middle, Carlos - Back) I won't say much about this guy. Because I don't have to. Let me only tell you that he's a must. Try yourself, he is worth the 260000 Gold, each single coin of it.
„You Won't Get Away From Me“: (Not only did I get away alive, I also kicked your a**, Scarecrow, so shut up.)
„Black-Winged Warrior“: For the whole dungeon, I needed two Chili Peppers (one to fight a 7-wave legion), nine water buckets (I seem to run into bomb traps quite often …) and no AP boosters at all. The second Chili Pepper I fed to Viegraff when I sent him against Lilith (the Boss). He was able to kill her in exactly one turn/11 AP. My team AP currently is 11: 4 from Carlos (Assassin, Ninja Suit), 3 from Kisara (Assassin, Ninja Armor), 1 from Viegraff plus the 3 you always get. I decided against hiring Lilith for now. (Don't worry, Carlos, I won't forget to mention that you are level 29 now.)
„Legendary Silver Wolf II“: As I mentioned already, this is one of the most rewarding missions in the game. For only 5 areas, you get 450 HR points, 10000 XP, 8500 Gold and a Moon Stone! As for the Boss, Silver Wolf has over 40 K HP, a decent Block rate, and his attacks can hurt a lot (once, in another game, he killed my front character). Still, nothing a good team can't handle. Viegraff should be able to kill him in 10 or 11 AP, without any Chili Peppers. Viegraff, with his high parry rate and Resistphysical equipment also should be able to survive counter-attacks. I am not sure about Kara, Kisara, Popey or Adam. In another game I managed to beat Silver Wolf in one turn with Kisara and Lucy in my team, I needed a Chili Pepper for Kisara and/or my avatar, though (they fought as a team). GubrutSky might be able to deal with this Boss (when you have enough team AP, that is), I just didn't try.
As we are all masochists, we ask for more dungeons:
„Play With Fire?“ (At level 30, Carlos had almost as many HP as Kisara, definitely over 3K.)
„The Trial“ (While Viegraff remained at the Front, I put my level 31 Assassin Rank 1 in the Middle and Kisara at the Back. I also noticed that my Hunter Rank was 6 now.)
