One: About writing slash.

I write slash.

I've been writing slash for a good many years now--about half my life. I first heard about slash in a feminist newspaper, Off Our Backs, which had printed Joanna Russ's essay, Pornography: For Women, By Women, With Love. That was when I discovered that the stories I'd been telling were being told by other women, too. It was ( Read more... )

My rather longish comment didn't get posted when you moved this. But I wanted to add, anyway, that Joanna Russ has written K/S slash under a pen name. I don't know how much, but I myself published two of her stories. I was thrilled since she's an award-winning "famous science fiction writer."

By the way my new WG S/V zine is finished and ready for ordering. The cover is being finalized today. Can I have permission to post a link to the flyer and ordering info which is on my fanzine list website? (And please send me via email your mailing address for the copy I'm setting aside for you as a "thank you" for all you've contributed to my WG obsession in the last few months, esp. your Roadhouse novel which is quite simply THE BEST.)

I was being sneaky--instead of just locking the post they linked to, I replaced it with Folgers Crystals--

No, that's not right. I replaced this post with the one about why I was ticked off, so anyone clicking on their link will get my explanation instead of nothing at all. I reposted this completely, and flocked it. If you'd like to move your comments over here, I'll move my reply.

And I'll definitely get you my address! I'm very excited!

How in gods' green earth is this derailing? I think it's an interesting perspective on slash, one that doesn't get talked about because most of the really vocal writers subscribe to the idea that characters (or people) who are having sex are not homophobic. And in my generation, that's (about 70% of the time) the case. With my parents' generation? They're old school gay men and they still rationalize at least half their behaviors.
