I promised myself I wouldn’t buy any books in the month of October… and then immediately regretted it when I got to the end of my available Venus in Love volumes just to discover that there was one more just released! Buying it would mean breaking my promise… and since 6 hadn’t ended in a cliffhanger I’d resigned myself to wait. But then it showed

I adore High School Debut. ^_^ (I often get to review it for MangaLife, which is fun.) And 20th Century Boys is awesome, too.

I really, really really love how High School Debut takes every shoujo high school romance cliche and just stomps it into the ground. I knew it was love when the typical gang of girl bullies call out Haruna for dating Yoh, and her response is to stomp them into the ground.

Haruna is made of awesome. Not the brightest, sometimes, but still SO AWESOME.

In a lot of ways I think she's a much more intelligent then other Shoujo heroines. I love that her first solution when she's concerned about something is to... you know... ASK about it instead of dithering for chapters and chapters in doubtful silence waiting for everyone to read her mind.
