I saw one of your comments on Moriel's LJ, and I had to compliment you on your choice of Grissom as a profile pic. By the way, do you know the story behind the character's name?

Well hello there! I have an icon of Grissom, but it isn't my profile pic at the moment (and I can't recall any time that it has). But I AM a die hard CSI fan. I don't know the story behind Grissom's name (do you?), but he is one of my favorite tv show characters.

And I take it from your profile that you are also a fan of mysteries (which I also adore). Do you by any chance read anything with fantasy aspects of it? Because if you do, I can recommend a great fantasy mystery series. It's the latest thing I'm pimping out to everyone these days. ;)

I also see that you're a Sherlock Holmes fan so I have to ask if you've read the Irene Adler series by any chance?

The Grissom pic I saw accompanied the comment which led me to comment on your LJ. Different one than the one accompanying the comment above, so I'm guessing that you have at least a few shots of Grissom in your userpics.

As for the story behind the name: According to what I've read, William Petersen is a fan of the space program, and he suggested the name as a tribute to astronaut Gus Grissom.

I've looked through one or two of the Adler series, but I haven't read any of the books. My Sherlockian reading tends to be the Canon more than anything else.

Ah, yes. Sherlock cannon is genius. ;) What's your favorite Sherlock story then?

And the Irene Adler series is brilliant because it plays off of cannon. And it captures the tone of Sherlock cannon so cleverly as well (right down to the cadences and nuances of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's writing). It's also a very intriguing opposite perspective as well as a very interesting tack on the Victorian era. I adore anything Sherlock though so I was thrilled to discover this series.

Interesting tidbit on Grissom's name. I never knew Peterson had an influence on his character's name before.
