First, I've acquired another vintage album, but unlike the other 2 I have, this one has no digital equivalent. I'd like to use the music in class, but these days an LP is not so practical. Any advice on digitizing the album

I set up my inlaws with a way to record the output from a record player to the computer (through an amp, a record player by itself doesn't provide a strong enough signal), and to split the recording into its component tracks and save the mp3s. Not -hard- to do, but perhaps tedious.
It's a little weird that I've never heard Jim perform before as he and new_man have been friends forever (at least since high school). It was a fantastic time.
Devices that will record an LP to MP3s or CDs (which can then be ripped to MP3) are available for not-much money. I saw one in Target just last week. Or, just look in Amazon for "record to MP3", and you'll get a bunch of hits like this:
