http://community.livejournal.com/merlinxarthur/702856.html#cutid1 Merlin smiled at the drunkenness of Arthur, His eyes glazed over and squinting. They widened and sparkled when they saw Merlin. ‘Where had he gone?’ he wondered.
“Merhleen!” Arthur had tried to stand up and failed, nearly falling into the lap of a visiting princess. He giggled at his own stupidity as he let his head role back revealing the throat Merlin had sucked and kissed only the night before, almost as if Arthur knew what he was doing. Merlin smiled as he dragged Arthur upwards. Merlin struggled under the weight of all that armour. Why did it have to be so heavy?!
“Thish ish ma man shevant” Slurred Arthur. “Hesh ushliss!”
All eyes were on Merlin. He wasn’t used to the attention.
“Come along, Sire,” Merlin said loudly. “We need to get you to bed.” The group of ladies’ he’d been entertaining gave a disappointed sigh in unison. Smiling to himself he managed to heave Arthur out of the hall.
Seeing Gwen having the same difficulty he grinned at her and nodded. She laughed back. Gwen really was getting more beautiful, more radiant every time he saw her. Love did that to people.
Uther looked upon the scene and laughed. Arthur truly was his mother’s son.
Dragging Arthur away from the Ladies of the court wasn’t all that easy. Many tried to dismiss Merlin and tried to follow him up to his room. Not very Lady like at all. Not by far. He’d managed to get Arthur’s arm over his shoulder and was currently dragging him from the hall. Arthur was a little drunk, or maybe he was acting, Merlin couldn’t be sure. Arthur wasn’t that heavy, but when he was carrying a dead weight it was something else entirely. Merlin was convinced Arthur was drunk.
As soon as they were out of sight from everyone Arthur miraculously sobered up. “Well, thank god thats over. I couldn’t stand it another moment.” Standing straight he marched off to his chambers leaving Merlin stunned in the corridor. “Come along, Merlin,” Arthur turned to look at his speechless friend.
“You… you’re not drunk? I thought…?” Merlin stammered.
Arthur rolled his eyes.
“Since you know I hate these occasions, I thought it best to act a little light headed so maybe my father would have sent us away. Of course, I was hoping you’d rescue me sooner…”
“I was thinking that,” Merlin admitted looking down. “But I noticed you were having such fun with the Ladies of the court I didn’t want to intrude. You told me to keep my head down and naturally, you being Prince of Camelot, I assumed you could handle them yourself.” Merlin grinned.
Arthur sighed and folded his arms. Merlin had that stupid grin on his face when he’d got his point proved. Idiot.
“Why did you have to talk to me when you were serving? You drove me crazy. Even my father noticed! You know what you do to me, even just by looking at me you can make me bend to your will…” Merlin was upon him, kissing his neck, raking his teeth over the soft flesh. Arthur bit back a moan as Merlin worked the skin between his teeth.
“I know. I just like to see you squirm.” Merlin pulled away and ran up the stairs to Arthur’s chambers. Arthur couldn’t help but smile as he followed Merlin, both of them giggling and laughing. The night was magical. The pair stopped at the threshold of the door. Merlin had locked it earlier in an attempt to keep Arthur out. It had worked like a charm.
“Its locked” Arthur said, turning to Merlin.
“Why don’t you unlock it then?” Merlin smiled as he saw the prince’s frustration. “Just will it to happen and the magic will do your bidding.”
Arthur willed it to open and it did. He seemed a little hesitant to enter, as though he was about to be pounced upon by a huge creature. Merlin smiled and held open the door. “If you’re magic is natural, you won’t need many spells. If your magic is elemental, that is.”
“Like yours?” Asked Arthur.
Smiling, Merlin nodded to Arthur to enter the room.
Arthur let out a gasp.

There were red, pink, white and yellow rose petals all over the floor and on the bed. Candles were lit everywhere. A bath had been put by the fire, as had a fur rug. Five jugs of wine and a huge bowl of strawberries were on the table that had been pushed aside to make more room.
No one had done anything like this for Arthur before and it touched him. Merlin had done this for him.
It was perfect. Merlin came out from behind the door with two goblets of wine with strawberries in them. Handing one to his lover, Merlin kissed Arthur lightly.
“Happy Birthday, Arthur.”
