I've had this thought before, but now I've done some vidding and rewatching and it just keeps me wondering... *dons tin hat*
I'm currently introducing my flat mate to the series, and she practically yelled at the screen "He knows it!", during
this scene. Which even I find implausible, but then there's this other scene:
It's just the way Arthur keeps looking at Merlin while Will takes it all on himself, as if he's waiting for Merlin to object.
But what really struck me is how he says "Do what you can for him" and then makes Morgana and Gwen leave with him. Of course Merlin is helping Gaius, but there's a bolt stuck in Will's chest! Arthur is a warrior and should know about this kind of injury, and have we ever seen Merlin do any wound treatment that would equal this?
So, I don't know, but could it be Arthur is asking Merlin to perform magic?
Of course, it's perfectly reasonable to say that Arthur wants to give them some time to say goodbye because they're friends and he empathises.
So what do you say? Does Arthur know more than he admits and tries to protect Merlin?
It's just, some scenes are a bit odd when you think about them too much, especially the one up there, but also the one in 1x03 when Merlin tries to confess for example. I'm probably reading too much into it once again, however, I wouldn't be surprised if they went for a 'I've always known there's something about you, Merlin' reaction should Merlin reveal himself. Maybe it's not so much 'knows', but rather 'suspects'?
Or... maybe Bradley's just a shit actor. (Just kidding, just kidding!)
Mods, I hope this is okay, I checked the discussion tag for similar posts, but couldn't find anything.
