Before I go read this part - yes, I watched Sherlock, and it is beyond awesome! BEYOND! I mean, obviously, Sherlock Holmes was gay even in canon (it's all in the subtext ;)) but that they'd outright admit it in the show is simply brilliant!

(now, if they have Watson and him make out in the last episode, I'll throw a party)

Wasn't it just?! I've always viewed Sherlock Holmes as a gay character (even if it isn't mentioned outright and is banished to the subtext), and when I was watching it on Sunday, I nearly squealed. XD I think because they've made it a contemporary programme, they wanted to make it completely contemporary? Like, they had him tell Watson he was gay because it's a modern thing to be accepting? If that makes sense. ^^

And, if they do make out in the last episode, my life will be complete. (:

That makes perfect sense! In contemporary times, it wouldn't be inacceptable for Holmes -- I mean Sherlock, of course ;) -- to be gay, so they just put it out there. Which I think is very, very bold for the BBC. Extremely bold, when one considers it. I'm so used to watching Queer as Folk that I sometimes forget how big of a deal it still seems to be in other TV shows when a gay character is introduced. Let alone has a kiss, ohdearGod! But maybe they'll just go through with it this time. :)
