Amycus had just lived through the worst day of his young life to date. This morning at breakfast he had been absolutely certain that Alecto was flirting with that odd Snape kid and it had put him in the foulest mood for the rest of the day.

He had been given three detentions, including one from Sluggie and had failed to Transfigure his rat into a working clock, so all in all he was feeling utterly wretched.

Not even Alecto coming to find him was enough to lift him from doldrums. He ignored her at first, but couldn't stop from leaning his face into her hand when she touched him.

When he didn't talk to her, Alecto started to panic that it was in fact her fault that her brother was unhappy. She flung herself against him, wrapping her arms around his waist.

"Oh, Aim, won't you tell me what I've done, please?" she begged urgently, pressing her face into his neck.

He couldn't help smirking when she wrapped her arms around him and he curled his own around her waist. He could tell her what was bothering him, but he knew that she would just deny his accusation and make him feel quite foolish about everything.

"I've just a bad day, Allie," he said resting his head against hers. "It's getting better though."

She grinned and kissed his neck. She loved how she could always cheer him up, not matter how unhappy he might be. She snuggled closer, breathing in the scent of him.

"What can I do to make you happier, my love?" she asked.
