In fact, she was doing a spectacular job of wallowing. She was wallowing like no woman had wallowed before, it was true. Many other women had been dumped by men they loved but those men were not James Potter and those women were not Lily Evans, and for James Potter to have dumped Lily Evans meant that there was something seriously, grievously wrong with the world. This wasn't just her problem, it was the whole fucking world's problem.
"Hi," she said softly, from the safety and comfort of her bed where she was currently situated, curled up in a ball with a pillow hugged to herself as if it would somehow ease the horrible, churning feeling inside her stomach. Needless to say, she had been crying for a rather long time. "S'okay, you can stay."
"Oh, well that's good. Because I didn't plan on leaving." Aslyn was generally far more meek than she was right now, never wanting to impose on anyone who didn't want her around, but she wouldn't feel comfortable leaving Lily by herself at the moment. "So, what do you want to talk about?" Lily didn't have to answer right away. That was fine. She could wait. Aslyn took a sip of her tea.
She took a deep breath and stared at a bracelet that was glittering on Aslyn's wrist. It was easier to look at that than look at her face, because she knew that her expression would be full of worry and sympathy, and she'd just end up crying again because that was all she was able to do today; cry.
"I don't know," she admitted dully. "Brain's not working right."
"That's okay," She tried to keep her face pleasant, pretending nothing bad had happened at all, and reached into her bag, tossing Lily a chocolate frog, "Did you know that chocolate has endorphins? I read that once. It's quite brilliant, something that tastes so good being able to release chemicals in your brain that trigger dopamine. It's like, two in one."
