The problem (I'm not a mod so they might say differently), is that you can't really dictate what the author writes. You can give an indication of what you'd like the story to be about, but a lot of authors will not choose a prompt which has an elaborate and pre-prepared storyline attached to it - it's pretty restrictive on the creative writing process.
Authors will look at these pictures and be inspired to write something but not necessarily the exact story you wanted and have already plotted out with a series of pictures.
It's only a suggestion of course, but do consider creating something new for this that isn't attached to the bigger story you'd hoped to have written for your existing art.
In regards to your DA account, I would suggest no, because the art created for this fest isn't supposed to be viewed publicly yet. We submit our drafts and the writers who have signed up for the fest are the only ones to see them (I think that's how it works, jogging my memory here, oh modly one). The drafts remain anonymous for the claiming.
Ok, I'll keep with the two images I'm working on now. I'm growing attached to them the more they develop anyway's :) They have very vague story suggestions, so it will be easy for the writers to choose where to take the stories.
If the writers out number the art by the time December claims arrive, will the artists be able to "pinch hit" like the writers? I am pretty much finished with my two entries, and I was in the mood to draw again, I was considering creating an emergency back-up piece, that if not used, I'll just post to my deviantart account :)
Usually I wait and see how the numbers even out then. While right now there are significantly more authors than artists signed up artists are allowed to make up to 2 pieces each and not every author who signs up ends up claiming.
Artists being able to "pinch hit" art if the numbers for authors stays high compared to the art submitted is definitely something I will take into consideration though! It's a good idea.
I knew it wouldn't be until claiming that we'd know for sure about the artist/author ratio, so I'll just doodle around anyway, and if there isn't pinch hitting for artists at the last minute I can always post it on LJ with my other Merlin art later :D This is a fun challenge, and I'm really enjoying it. I'm so glad I get to join this year. Thanks for all your hard work, and making this possible. Yall's efforts are appreciated :)
I've never participated in a fest like this before (though of course I'm super-excited) and I am wondering what one needs to do for author check-in. Can someone fill me in? (Hopefully chosenfire, but anyone?) I'm not very familiar with LJ and can't seem to find details.
Edit: Thanks for the post about it! All clear now.
